Anti-Racism Training and Activities In Province II

Antiracism Training:

The Diocese of New Jersey will offer a 2.5 day training facilitated by Crossroads Anti-Racism Ministries. It will be held at Grove Hall conference center in Ocean Grove NJ, from 6 p.m. Thursday, March 15 through 3 p.m. Saturday, March 17th. A fee of $400 to cover costs will be charged for non-Diocese of NJ participants. Contact Sarah Paige at Diocesan House (609-394-5281).

The Diocese of Newark is sponsoring a two-day training from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm on Friday, November 11 and Saturday, November 12. Further information is available from Kitty Kawecki, kkawecki@dioceseofnewark.org.

Diocese of New York will offer the following antiracism workshops using the national church methodology, Seeing the Face of God in Each Other. Workshops are without cost for members of the Diocese of New York; there is a fee of $50.00 for those outside of the diocese. Antiracism Events and Activities:

The Diocese of New Jersey Anti-Racism and Team are sponsoring the following events:

An ongoing One Book project, based on Joseph Barndt's recent title, Becoming an Anti-Racist Church, Journeying toward Wholeness is being conducted. The book blog is open to all and may be found at antiracistchurch.blogspot.com/ Anyone may participate in the online discussion, which will continue through December 18.

The Diocese of New Jersey will also sponsor a diocesan-wide conference on Saturday, November 12, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Trinity Cathedral in Trenton (808 West State St.). Registration ($10): contact Sarah Paige at Diocesan House (609-394-5281) or <spaige@newjersey.anglican.org> for further details.

Author Joseph Barndt, conference keynote speaker, will also lead a discussion of his book Becoming an Anti-Racist Church the evening of Friday, November 11, 7:00 p.m., the night before the conference.

The Diocese of Central New York is having an organizational meeting
at Grace Episcopal and Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 13 Court Street in Cortland on Saturday, October 29, from 10 AM to 3PM.

Among other topics, we will review the different models for antiracism training which currently exist, and discuss what will work best for us.

Province II is comprised of the six dioceses of the State of New York, Albany, Central New York, Long Island, New York, Rochester and Western New York, the two dioceses of the State of New Jersey, Newark and New Jersey, and the Diocese of Haiti, the Diocese of the Virgin Islands and the Convocation of Episcopal Churches in Europe.
