The next Episcopal Youth Event (EYE) will be held at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma on July 10–14, 2017.
“EYE is always a great event for both our youth and for our adults,” Presiding Bishop Michael Curry commented. “I have attended many of the Episcopal Youth Events and I have fond memories of joining our youth in celebration, learning and fun. EYE17 is a strong component of the Jesus Movement.”
The young people of Province II had such a wonderful experience at the last EYE in 2015 that they asked for a similar provincial event in 2016. #youthtakeover16: be the change took place in July of 2016. Although it was a super event, for various reasons, only 40 young people from three dioceses were able to attend. See the photos and video here.
Now is the time to plan for EYE 2017. This gives our young people time to hold fundraisers and apply for grants to be able to get out to Oklahoma in July. It also allows time for chaperones to arrange for time off to accompany the youth. Province II is committed to having a good delegation representing all eleven dioceses at the coming EYE, so dioceses, please get started doing whatever needs to be done to provide this experience for as many young people as possible. Work with the province to make the necessary funds available. Myra Garnes, youth coordinator for the province, will be able to help.
The planning team is already at work. Follow them on Facebook!
