Treasurer
Three Year Term (Can be re-elected for one additional term)
The Treasurer is one of four officers of the Provincial Council, and the duties include receipt and disbursal of all monies of the Province. The Treasurer should have familiarity with simple banking and bookkeeping methods; and is responsible to report on all financial activities of the Province. The Treasurer, working with the Executive Coordinator, is responsible for creating the Province's triennial budget, which gets presented to the Synod for approval. The Treasurer ensures that the books of account are audited annually. The Treasurer is elected at Synod, but does not assume office until the following January 1st.
The time commitment includes attendance at the annual Provincial Council Meeting…a one day face-to-face meeting (usually in Newark) in October each year. Additional meetings, and/or conference calls, may be called by the President, if necessary. Council members are also expected to attend the Provincial Synod, held once every three years. The Treasurer is responsible for all related banking activities.

Six Year Term
Position Description: Members carry out the program and policies adopted by the General Convention and have charge of the coordination, development, and implementation of the ministry and mission of the Church. The Executive Council is required to manage the budget of the Church, submit to General Convention a budget for the next triennium, and make annual reports to the Church of receipts and disbursements and a statement of all trust funds and properties. They also serve as the Board of Directors of the Domestic and Foreign Missionary Society. The Council does its work within five standing committee focuses: Local Ministry and Mission, Advocacy and Networking for Mission, World Mission, Finances for Mission, and Governance and Administration for Mission.
Qualities and Competencies a nominee should have: In addition to attendance and participation in Executive Council meetings, members are often appointed to task forces and special working groups that function between Council meetings. All nominees must have a commitment to this ministry and the time to fully participate. Council members need a deep commitment to God's Church, strong faith, openness to new ideas, flexibility, the ability to communicate in small and large groups, and a broad perspective of the Church. Specific skills and gifts are desired in the areas of: understanding of the workings of the Anglican Communion and The Episcopal Church, finances and budget management, organizational development, proven advocacy skills, and the planning and implementation of assignments. Three Year Term
The Provincial Council serves as the governing body of the Province, and is comprised of four officers, the two Executive Council members elected by the Province, a bishop, a clerical and a lay representative, plus the Provincial representative to the Episcopal News Service and the Chancellor. The Council meets in a one day face-to-face meeting (usually in Newark) in October each year. Additional meetings, and/or conference calls, may be called by the President, if necessary. Council members are also expected to attend the Provincial Synod, held once every three years. They are also asked to vigorously support and to participate in other province-wide events, if and when they are scheduled.
There may be periodic pieces of email correspondence generated to obtain Council approvals of planned actions, or expenditures.
Nominations should be received not later than February 15, 2012.
- Province II is comprised of the six dioceses of the State of New York, Albany, Central New York, Long Island, New York, Rochester and Western New York, the two dioceses of the State of New Jersey, Newark and New Jersey, and the Diocese of Haiti, the Diocese of the Virgin Islands and the Convocation of Episcopal Churches in Europe.
